Marikina fire leaves 16 families homeless
MANILA, Philippines — At least 16 families were left homeless when a fire struck a residential area in Marikina City at dawn yesterday.
The blaze broke out at the house of Soliman Tiamzon along H. Bautista street in Barangay Concepcion Uno before 1 a.m., Senior Fire Officer 1 Paulo Garrado said.
Garrado said an electric fan that overheated caused the fire.
The fire reached the second alarm before it was declared under control at around 1:30 a.m.
No one was reported injured in the incident.
Damage to property was placed at P300,000.
The affected residents are temporarily staying at the covered basketball court in the barangay.
