Voter registration ends today
MANILA, Philippines — Today is the last day of registration for those aspiring to vote in next year’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, an official said yesterday.
James Jimenez, spokesman for the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said the voter registration ends at exactly 3 p.m.
Jimenez said applicants who are waiting in line by 3 p.m. within a 30-meter radius of the office of election officers and registration centers would be listed.
The names of the listed applicants will be called three times. Those who are not around when called will no longer be allowed to register.
Applications of those present when their names are called will be processed and their biometrics data taken.
The Comelec is expecting around 850,000 voters to sign up for the barangay and SK elections next year.
The poll body recorded a total of 496,816 registrants from Nov. 6 to 25.
