2 dead in QC shootings
MANILA, Philippines — Two men were gunned down in separate shootings in Quezon City over the weekend.
Manolo Taroy, 67, was shot in front of the Colombia Garden Residences along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Batasan Hills at around 12:30 p.m.
The security guard told police that he heard a lone gunshot and he saw Taroy lying on the ground.
He died at the Malvar General Hospital from a gunshot wound to the head.
Probers said Taroy told his son that he would meet with barangay chairman Jojo Abad at a nearby restaurant along Commonwealth Avenue to talk about the construction of a new barangay hall, which is supposedly being built on a private lot.
Meanwhile, Reynaldo Gente, 32, was shot along an alley near Carlos street in Barangay Baesa at around 12:10 a.m.
Beside his body was a note that tagged him as a drug user and runner.
