2 ‘serial robbers’ nabbed in Caloocan
MANILA, Philippines — Two men linked to a series of robberies in Monumento were arrested by the Caloocan police last Friday.
A victim of Angelito Valida, 43, and Renato Lakandula, 42, tipped off the police about their presence along 3rd Avenue, the Northern Police District said.
The suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, sped off toward D. Aquino street, where they were cornered by police officers.
A Honda XRM motorcycle, a .45 caliber pistol with eight bullets, a knife, four cell phones and five empty wallets were recovered from the suspects.
The tipster, 21-year-old sales agent Robert Mapula, lost his bag containing P15,000 cash while walking at the corner of Sevilla street and 3rd Avenue on the morning of Nov. 10.
He identified the suspects when they were brought to the NPD.
The two also took a bag containing P3,000 from 26-year-old sales agent Jomari Cataytay along 8th Avenue on Nov. 9, police added.
Valida and Lakandula face charges of illegal possession of firearms and deadly weapons and robbery through intimidation.
