Archdiocese of Manila to raise funds for Marawi
MANILA, Philippines — The Archdiocese of Manila will raise funds to help in the rebuilding of Marawi City that was ruined during the government’s five-month battle against the Islamic State-inspired Maute terrorist group.
Caritas Manila, the social arm of the diocese, will hold the fundraiser dubbed “Damay Kapanalig Marawi” on Nov. 8.
The church-based non-profit organization appealed to the faithful to take part in the telethon.
“Caritas Manila appeals for your support to help our brothers and sisters in Marawi rebuild their lives,” it said in a post on its Facebook page.
Caritas Manila intends to gather funds for its rehabilitation projects, which include provision of food, solar lamps and water filters, psycho-social support through training and materials development for peace education, temporary shelters or family size tents, toilet facilities and livelihood.
