Sinkhole found on EDSA
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is repairing a sinkhole discovered along EDSA near its intersection with Connecticut street in Quezon City, an official said yesterday.
Edison Nebrija, operations supervisor of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), said they submitted a damage assessment to the DPWH for immediate appropriate actions after the sinkhole was reported by Highway Patrol Group personnel last Thursday.
The MMDA has approved a road reblocking plan for the DPWH to fill the sinkhole from 11 p.m. Saturday until tomorrow morning.
Nebrija clarified that the DPWH put barriers around the affected area instead of closing the road to traffic.
The sinkhole was measured to be more than one foot deep and at least one and a half feet across, he said.
