Woman found dead in motel

MANILA, Philippines — A 29-year-old woman was found dead in a motel in Quiapo, Manila yesterday morning.

Joan Echipare died from stab wounds, according to Senior Police Officer 2 Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District homicide unit.

A roomboy of Escaldo Apartelle located along Bautista street discovered Echipare’s body at around 7:30 a.m.

The roomboy said Echipare checked into the motel with three men on Saturday night.

Cayabyab said the victim could have been killed while she was sleeping since there were no signs that she struggled.

Police said the motel, which is reportedly owned by a Manila prosecutor, had no closed-circuit television camera, making it hard for authorities to identify the suspects.
