Fire hits hotel under construction in Bonifacio Global City

MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at the construction site of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig yesterday morning.

The blaze started at the power supply room on the second floor of the hotel just before 6 a.m., said arson investigator Florian Guerrero.

More than 30 firetruck crews responded to the fire, which reached third alarm before it was put out at around 8:43 a.m., he said.

Melissa Ledesma, the hotel’s sales and marketing director, said only employees and construction workers were in the building when the fire broke out.

All of them have been accounted for and are safe, she added. 

Guerrero said they are trying to determine what caused the fire and the property damage it caused.
