3 held for bullets at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines - Security officers held three more departing passengers for carrying bullets at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday.
They were Noren Ribalde, of Sampaloc, Manila; Rolando Garfel, of Cauayan City, Isabela, and a 68-year-old man from Catarman in Samar.
The three were allowed to board their respective flights after the bullets were confiscated, airport officials said.
On Tuesday, Chinese passenger Qin Wei and Leonila Marunda, of Taytay, Rizal were intercepted at the NAIA for hiding bullet shells in their luggage.
The passengers said they kept the bullets for good luck and to drive away evil spirits.
Manila International Airport Authority general manager Ed Monreal urged the public to refrain from bringing ammunition because these are banned at airports.
