4 drug suspects killed, 13 arrested

MANILA, Philippines - At least four suspected drug pushers and users were killed and 13 others were arrested in Metro Manila over the past two days.

Julius Umali was shot dead by police officers during a drug sting in Barangay South Cembo, Makati City just before 4 a.m. yesterday.

In Caloocan City, three motorcycle thieves were killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in Barangay 179 before dawn yesterday.

The suspects allegedly shot at lawmen responding to a call that three men robbed Ronald Abante of his motorcycle.

Police officers recovered a .45 caliber pistol, two .38 caliber revolvers, two motorcycles and 16 sachets of shabu.

Meanwhile, at least 13 persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Caloocan, Navotas and Valenzuela. Thirteen sachets of shabu were recovered from them.
