5 Taiwanese get life for drugs
MANILA, Philippines - Five Taiwanese men have been sentenced to life imprisonment for manufacturing illegal drugs in Parañaque City in 2012.
In a 27-page decision released recently, Judge Danilo Suarez of the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 259 found Yu Teng Cheng, Horng Jen Tsai, Kun Lin Yu, Yung-Chun Huang and Yun-Pong Hsu guilty of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
The five were arrested by anti-narcotics operatives during a raid on a shabu laboratory along Santisima Trinidad street in San Antonio Valley 12 on Aug. 19, 2012.
The raiders recovered P150 million worth of drugs and shabu precursors during the operation.
The Taiwanese have been detained at the National Capital Region Police Office headquarters at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig since their arrest.
The court ordered the immediate transfer of the convicts to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
