Fires hit Las Piñas, Pasay
MANILA, Philippines - At least 60 families were left homeless when fires broke out in Las Piñas and Pasay since Wednesday night.
Thirty houses were destroyed after a fire of still unknown origin started at the house of Nelson Mallari in Barangay Daniel Fajardo, Las Piñas City yesterday morning.
Mallari’s house was made of light materials and this allowed the fire to spread to his neighbors’ homes, investigators said. The fire, which reached fifth alarm before it was put out an hour later, left around 60 families homeless.
No one was injured or killed during the fire, but investigators said the fire destroyed P250,000 worth of property.
In Pasay City, a two-story apartment in Barangay Tramo was razed by fire on Wednesday night.
Arson investigators said they are investigating allegations that a resident reportedly threatened to torch the apartment.
The blaze affected around 20 families, investigators said.
