Uber driver held for selling employer’s car

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - An Uber driver was arrested with his brother on Wednesday morning after he allegedly tried to sell a vehicle he borrowed from his employer in Quezon City.

Dexter Emerson, 41, and his brother Erwin, were arrested during an entrapment operation when they sold the Toyota Vios of Dexter’s employer for P150,000 along Malumanay street in Barangay Malaya at around 8 a.m.

The brothers were nabbed after they failed to show proof of ownership of the vehicle, which was reported missing by Joseph Griarte earlier this week.

Dexter allegedly borrowed the Vios from Griarte on June 30 supposedly for an emergency, just a week after he was hired by Griarte as a driver for the ride-hailing platform.

He reported the missing car case to police on July 11 when he could not find Dexter at his address stated on his submitted NBI clearance.

Car parts dealer Abel Zamodio, 52, was arrested after a spare tire and a mag wheel from Griarte’s Vios were found in his shop.
