1 dead in Quezon City shooting

MANILA, Philippines - A 26-year-old man who was gunned down in an alley on Sunday night is the latest casualty in the spate of killings in Quezon City. 

Paolo Nicor, 26, was shot by a lone assailant along Alley 5 near Kalayaan street in Barangay Batasan Hills at around 10:30 p.m.

The victim’s brother told police he was visiting the wake of a neighbor when he heard successive gunshots nearby.

One of his neighbors told him the assailant was heading towards them, which prompted him to hide in a house. 

He said he saw Nicor lying face down and bleeding after his friends told him his brother was shot.

Police recovered eight fired cartridge cases and other bullet fragments at the crime scene.
