Cop who killed wife, son tests positive for drugs
MANILA, Philippines - The policeman who killed his wife and son during a shooting rampage at their house in Quezon City has tested positive for illegal drugs.
Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, director of the Quezon City Police District, said Police Officer 2 Roal Sabiniano tested positive for shabu following his arrest on Sunday.
Sabiniano said he did not regret killing his wife, Mary Jane, 36. He said he only regretted the death of his 13-year-old son, who died after he went on a shooting spree at their house along Uwak street in Barangay Commonwealth.
The bodies of Mary Jane and her son Aljon Dave were riddled with bullets as Sabiniano emptied two magazines of his 9mm pistol.
Sabiniano claimed that he did not intend to kill his son as he was aiming at his wife. But the boy tried to shield his mother.
Sabiniano admitted that he took a hit of shabu last week.
Police said they would file charges of two counts of parricide against him before the city prosecutor's office.
