2 dead in drug stings, 9 arrested

MANILA, Philippines -  At least two suspects were killed in drug stings and nine others were arrested in Metro Manila yesterday.

Randy Abarca was shot dead by Police Officer 1 Joeffrey Castillo during a drug sting at the corner of Mulawin street and Greenwoods Avenue in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday.

Abarca reportedly drew a .38 caliber revolver and shot Castillo, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, and the lawman fired back.

In Manila, alleged pusher Reynaldo Javier Jr., 34, was killed in a sting in Sta. Ana at past 1 a.m. yesterday while his companions Elaine Sevillana, 18, and Zenaida Javier, 57, were arrested.

Javier allegedly shot it out with police officers.

Seven suspects were arrested in two stings in Barangays Alabang and Cupang in Muntinlupa City yesterday morning.

Christopher Falcon, 29; Rey Bolote, 39; Alberto Colas, 41; Jenelyn Salonga, 33; and Mary Jean Colocano, 31, were arrested at Balbanero Compound in Alabang.

Emie Rafoi, 31, and Gilbert Peroles, 38, were arrested in Barangay Cupang.
