QC earmarks P251 M for flood control projects
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government has earmarked around P251 million for flood control projects in preparation for the rainy season.
The funds will cover the construction of retaining walls and ripraps along waterways to minimize flooding in the city.
The local government listed six priority projects amounting to P109 million in Barangays Apolonio Samson, Bagong Silangan, Fairview, Mariana and Sta. Monica.
The city engineering department said 19 flood-mitigating projects have been completed through its task force waterways.
Mayor Herbert Bautista has allotted a total of P1.6 billion for the construction of waterway structures in different creeks and rivers in the metropolis.
The city government also ordered declogging and cleanup of waterways in anticipation of the rainy season.
