MANILA, Philippines - Two men believed to be involved in illegal drugs were killed and eight others were apprehended in Metro Manila on Sunday.
In Caloocan City, Fernando Aquino and Edwin Nalait, 48, were shot dead by unidentified assailants at a house at Block 8, Package 3, Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang at around 11:30 p.m.
Neighbors said they saw three masked men on two motorcycles before they heard gunshots.
Police said they recovered four sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia at the scene.
Six persons were arrested by police in separate anti-narcotics operations in Caloocan, Malabon and Valenzuela on Sunday.
Members of the Malabon police nabbed Anthony Barba, 27, after he allegedly handed a sachet of shabu to a police officer who posed as a buyer along Pampano street, Barangay Longos.
Barba reportedly yielded two sachets of shabu and the marked money.
Police nabbed Agustina Ramos, 47, Aldo Rei Hernandez, 25, and Darwin John Palacio, 32, in an anti-drug operation along Arthur street in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela.
Probers said they recovered four sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.
Operatives of the Northern Police District drug enforcement unit collared Frederick Sotto and Erick Sotto in a sting along Pangako street in Barangay 151, Bagong Barrio in Caloocan.
Authorities said they confiscated three sachets of shabu and a .38-caliber pistol from the Sottos.
In Pasig City, two men were arrested by police for alleged possession of illegal drugs.
Police identified the suspects as Rechie Alimania, alias Bong, and Paul Mark Fernandez.
Alimania was nabbed at the corner of Molave street and Sandoval Avenue in Nagpayong, Barangay Pinagbuhatan.
Authorities said they recovered three sachets of shabu from Alimania.
Fernandez allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu when frisked by security guard Casimiro Corpuz while about to enter an e-games outlet along Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue in Barangay Maybunga.
The drug suspects are being held by police on drug charges.
