A fabulous fête
The distinguished duo, Zambia Consul Louie Ablaza and his wife Guatemala Consul Mellie Ablaza, recently hosted a fabulous fête for their friends from the diplomatic community. Well-traveled and naturally gracious, the couple prepared a gastronomic and cultural feast in their elegant home, which was sophisticatedly decorated like a modern-day fairytale filled with dazzling lights and pearly white trimmings. Their interesting guests, who were made up of Metro Manila’s most prominent dignitaries, enjoyed the sumptuous dinner. The evening was made even lovelier by surprise musical performances from the couple’s talented grandchildren, the Austrian ambassador’s young son David Müllner, and renowned pianist and Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) president Dr. Raul Sunico.
Still one for the books for Marco Polo Plaza Cebu
Top-notch five-star hotel in the Queen City of the South Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (MPPC) organized a spectacular affair to celebrate the Year of the Fire Rooster. The event started with the traditional ceremonies to usher the Lunar New Year such as eye-dotting ceremony and a lion and dragon dance followed by the annual Yee Sang Tossing Ceremony (also known as Prosperity Toss) led by MPPC general manager Julie Najar together with respected personalities from the diplomatic, business and social circles and the Filipino-Chinese community including Chinese consul general Shi Yong and Portugal consul Samuel Chioson. One of the hotel’s famous culinary journeys, Culinary Impressions of China, was also launched on the same day wherein the hotel’s signature outlet Café Marco offered sumptuous Chinese dishes on top of the restaurant’s international buffet spread.
