Rody reaches out to jeepney drivers
MANILA, Philippines - After last Monday’s transport strike, President Duterte is willing to talk to jeepney operators and drivers to discuss the government’s plan to phase out old jeepneys.
Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said there is no definite date yet for the planned dialogue and that Duterte is willing to hear the drivers and operators’ concerns.
“The President has assured the workers’ group that he would be holding a separate meeting with jeepney drivers who joined a nationwide transport strike,” he said.
The drivers are opposing the government’s plan to phase out old jeepneys. Some 600,000 drivers and 200,000 operators will be affected by the plan.
