Man arrested for ‘sextortion’

MANILA, Philippines -  Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in Quezon City for allegedly extorting P30,000 from his former girlfriend in exchange for not uploading her nude pictures on social media.

Jefferson Juanite was apprehended by operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in an entrapment operation in a restaurant in Cubao at around 9 p.m. on Friday.

Juanite’s former lover told police that he threatened to upload her nude photos on the Internet to force her to get back to him.

She said she did not know that Juanite took videos and pictures of their sexual trysts while they were together.

Police seized two mobile phones, a flash drive and P1,000 in marked money from the suspect.

Juanite is being held at the QCPD detention cell on robbery and extortion charges.
