No break in drug war as 12 more killed

MANILA, Philippines – The war on drugs continued in Metro Manila even on a holiday as 12 more suspected drug personalities were killed in separate incidents, police said yesterday.

Five of the drug suspects were slain in separate shootings in Pasay, Makati and Parañaque cities.

Danilo Bolante, Nante Kamandag and Reynante Lucas were shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pasay before 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bolante died at the scene. Kamandag and Lucas were rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the three had surrendered to authorities under Oplan Tokhang but reportedly returned to drug pushing.

Bolante, Kamandag and Lucas were on the drug watchlist.

Another drug suspect, Jonathan Gamboa, was killed by unidentified gunmen along Bonifacio street in Barangay Rizal, Makati.

Gamboa was categorized as a known drug pusher in the barangay.

Angelo Garcia, who was on the drug watchlist of Barangay Baclaran in Parañaque, was gunned down by unidentified assailants at past 1 a.m. yesterday.

Two more suspected drug personalities were killed in Pasig City.

Jose Cruz and his partner, Jaya Dapat, were sleeping when three men broke into their house in Barangay Rosario and fired at them, Senior Police Officer 1 Ricardo Allapitan said.

Police said Cruz and Dapat were on the drug watchlist.

In Quiapo, Manila, three suspected drug pushers were killed in an alleged encounter with police following a sting at dawn yesterday.

Police identified the fatalities as Ismael Kadil, alias Datz, and alias Unzo.

In Mandaluyong City, alleged drug pusher Jennifer Ian Dassala was slain after she reportedly engaged police in a shootout during a sting in Barangay Vergara.

Police said they conducted an operation against Dassala after receiving information that she was involved in drug deals.

Dassala was included in the barangay’s drug watchlist, authorities said.

A suspected drug pusher was killed in a reported shootout with police during a sting in Quezon City.

Gerald Pamitan, 26, was died after he allegedly engaged operatives in a gunfight at a vacant lot in Barangay Tatalon.

Pamitan died from multiple gunshots to the body at the Delos Santos Medical Center.

Pamitan was on the drug watchlist of the Galas police.

Police said they recovered a .45-caliber pistol and four sachets of shabu from Pamitan.

9 fall in drug stings

Nine persons were arrested by police in anti-drug operations in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday.

Nabbed were Gilbert Gomez, Mary Kane Nuevo, Alona Loure, Arian Gil Fabricante, Armando Viloria, Ruben Lagartos, Vivian Manoso, Luisito Aguilar and Daisy Sulit.

Police Officer 3 Julius Me-jellano said the suspects were apprehended in Barangays Sucat, Alabang and Tunasan.

The suspects allegedly yielded sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, are being readied against them. – Robertzon Ramirez, Romina Cabrera, Ghio Ong
