Anti-graft hotline to take a break tomorrow

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Do not call President Duterte’s corruption complaints hotline 8888 tomorrow because the Civil Service Commission (CSC), which is operating the hotline, will not be accepting calls on All Saints’ Day.

“This is in compliance with Section 5 (e) of Executive Order No. 6 on Operating Hours which provides that the 8888 Citizen’s Complaint Center shall operate 24/7 but excluding national holidays and work suspensions,” the CSC said.

Hotline 8888 will be closed on Nov. 1 and will immediately resume operations on Nov. 2.

The hotline received almost 5,000 calls during its first month of operation alone.

The CSC, through the Public Assistance and Information Office, manages Hotline 8888 in support to Duterte’s directive of establishing a 24-hour national citizens’ complaint hotline where the public can report corruption and inefficiency in government.
