DFA reminder: Passport appointments free

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued an advisory reminding the public that getting an appointment for passport application is free of charge.

“There is no payment required to schedule an appointment at the DFA’s Office of Consular Affairs in DFA Aseana (Manila), regional consularoffices, mall-based satellite offices and in all Philippine embassies and consulates,” the DFA said in a public advisory it issued in English, Filipino and several dialects.

“We urge the public to be prudent and cautious in transacting with entities in person or via the Internet who offer an earlier appointment slot for a fee,” the DFA warned.

“This is illegal and a scam,” it added.
