Breastfeeding mother shot dead in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines – A 32-year-old woman was shot dead while breastfeeding her son at their house in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday.

Carmelita Flores died from a gunshot wound in the head, police said.

Reports said that Flores was breastfeeding her four-year-old son when the assailant broke into the house and shot the victim at around 2:15 p.m.

Witnesses told police that the gunman was wearing a cap. A man clad in red shirt, gray pants and with a backpack served as lookout, probers said.

The suspects fled after the attack.

Police said the suspects could not be recognized from closed-circuit television footage.

Investigators ruled out illegal drugs as a possible motive for the killing.
