School registrar found dead in Caloocan
MANILA, Philippines - A 36-year-old school registrar was found dead with multiple stab wounds at her house in Sta. Quiteria, Caloocan City yesterday.
Joy Merona was discovered lifeless by Michael Lao, 40, a septic tank maintenance man, at around 6:30 a.m., said Senior Inspector Ilustre Mendoza, chief investigator of the Caloocan police.
Merona was a registrar at the Immaculate Mother Learning Center owned by her family.
Mendoza said probers recovered a nine-inch kitchen knife and drug paraphernalia at the scene.
Police have yet to determine if the drug paraphernalia belonged to Merona or her husband, who claimed he was in Cavite when the incident happened.
The victim’s husband was held by police for questioning.
