DILG chief wants ‘shabu cop’ out of PNP soon
MANILA, Philippines – Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento ordered the National Police Commission (Napolcom) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday to expedite the dismissal of a policeman nabbed in a drug raid on his house in Sampaloc, Manila.
“We don’t tolerate acts like this even during our remaining days in office. I have ordered Napolcom and PNP to take appropriate action for the immediate dismissal from the service of Police Officer 2 Jolly Aliangan and the conduct of a deeper investigation on this matter,” he said.
Sarmiento also lauded the National Bureau of Investigation for arresting Aliangan and helping “us in our campaign to get rid of scalawags and misfits in the PNP, particularly those who are involved in the illegal drug trade.”
Aliangan was arrested in his upscale home in Sampaloc, Manila by NBI agents after receiving information that a police officer from the National Capital Region Police Office was moving drugs from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa. His wife and his cousin, Jeffrey Gutierrez, who is allegedly a civilian agent of the NCRPO, were also arrested.
Aliangan reportedly yielded more than 100 grams of shabu, drug paraphernalia, several unlicensed high-powered firearms such as M-16 rifles and a vault containing P6.9 million in cash during the raid.
