MRT shortens trip over glitch
MANILA, Philippines – Metro Rail Transit (MRT) commuters were stranded at around noon yesterday after the rail line shortened its trips due to a still unidentified technical problem.
The MRT trains ran only from Shaw Boulevard to Taft Avenue and back, prompting commuters to occupy half of EDSA as they tried to hail buses.
Reports said that trips were limited due to damaged railings, but MRT general manager Roman Buenafe was unavailable for comment.
He previously assured that new light rail vehicles will be made available by this month to accommodate the volume of commuters.
