Man decapitated in train mishap
MANILA, Philippines – An unidentified man was hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Sampaloc, Manila yesterday morning.
Witnesses said the man crossed the railway tracks, ignoring the barrier, as the northbound train approached the Blumentritt station at around 11 a.m.
The impact crushed the man’s body and his head was decapitated, according to PNR spokesman Paul de Quiros.
The driver, whom he identified as Joshua Magbanua, was taken to the PNR depot for investigation although officials believe that he has no liability in the incident, he said.
“The train has the right of way. We have barriers, signs, and the train driver blows (the train’s) horns whenever he approaches,” De Quiros said.
He promised financial assistance to the man’s family once the victim is identified.
