De Lima urged: Reveal campaign financiers

MANILA, Philippines - A group advocating clean government yesterday urged former justice secretary and now senatorial hopeful Leila de Lima to reveal her campaign financiers.

Joyce Doromal, secretary general of Laban ng Bayan Tungo sa Malinis na Pamahalaan or Laban, made the appeal amid reports that De Lima allegedly received campaign funds from pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles and drug lords at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP).

Doromal said they are supporting the senatorial bid of De Lima. But the group wanted to make sure that the former justice chief is clean.

“We are urging her to reveal her financial backers to debunk claims that she received funds from Napoles,” Doromal said.

Plunder charges have been filed against Napoles in connection with the P10-billion Priority Development Allocation Fund scam.

De Lima had launched a series of raids on the NBP when she was still justice secretary.
