Malabon has new police chief

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has appointed Senior Superintendent John Chua as new Malabon police chief.

Chua replaced Senior Superintendent Severino Abad Jr. in a simple turnover ceremony yesterday.

Abad, who is retiring from the police service next week, led the neutralization of criminal and drug rings in the city.

IPrior to his appointment, Chua was assigned with the PNP Headquarters Support Service at Camp Crame.

Chua, a member of the PNP Academy Class of 1992, said he would step up the campaign against crimes and illegal drugs.
