Pasig bet vows funds for free college education

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pasig City congressional candidate and STAR columnist Mons Romulo vowed yesterday to ensure that the annual General Appropriations Act will include enough funds for free college education for all.

In a statement sent to The STAR, she said she will work for the full implementation of the Iskolar ng Bayan Law (Republic Act 10648) and the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Law (RA 10687), also known as the free college education law.

Romulo said her younger brother, Pasig Rep. and senatorial candidate Roman Romulo authored the two laws.

The free college education law covers tuition as well as the students’ transportation expenses, meals, school supplies and books.

“It’s a must to provide adequate budget to ensure Filipinos from all walks of life be given expanded education opportunities,” Romulo said.
