Cops shot in Caloocan; 1 dead, 1 hurt

MANILA, Philippines – A policeman was killed while another was wounded when two alleged members of a drug gang shot at them in Tala, Caloocan City Tuesday night.

Police Officer 2 Mark Ifor Pacheco, 31, died at the scene while PO1 Jaypee John Pagarigan, 28, is under observation at the Far Eastern University Hospital.

According to reports, the two lawmen, both detailed at the city’s anti-illegal drug unit, were conducting surveillance operations along Doña Aurora Street in Barangay 188 when they saw two men standing on a corner.

The men shot the police officers as they
approached, killing Pacheco. Pagarigan was able to return fire and hit one of the men.

The suspects are still at large.
