MANILA, Philippines - A woman, reportedly jealous that her partner of 16 years was entertaining a suitor, jumped from the fifth floor of SM Megamall on Sunday.

“I love you. Goodbye!” was the last text message Madonna Guanzon, 48, sent to her partner, identified only as Chonna

Guanzon was declared dead on arrival at the Medical City hospital, where mall guards had taken her.

Senior Superintendent Joaquin Alva, Mandaluyong police chief, ordered a deeper investigation of the incident.

SM Supermalls senior vice president Steven Tan vowed to cooperate fully in the probe.

Chonna last saw her partner alive at their home in Taytay, Rizal at around 9 a.m. Sunday, said Senior Police
Officer 2 Albert Fontanilla.

The two women were not on speaking terms because Guanzon was jealous over talk that Chonna, a hotel supervisor, was entertaining a suitor, Fontanilla said.

Witnesses said they saw the victim walking aimless at the mall’s fifth floor while talking to someone on her mobile phone at past 7 p.m. Sunday.

After turning off her phone, Guanzon climbed the railing and jumped.

There are reports that she screamed, “Walang forever (There is no forever)!” as she jumped.

Fontanilla said he recovered Guanzon’s mobile phone, which showed text messages between her and Chonna, several of which confirmed that the victim was jealous.
