Murder suspect caught with guns, drugs
MANILA, Philippines – A man wanted for murder was arrested at a condominium unit in Mandaluyong City yesterday, with police confiscating six guns and three kilos of shabu from him.
Police officers are looking into the background of Ernesto Fernandez to determine the scope of his involvement in drug pushing and gunrunning, said Director Victor Deona, who heads the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
A team led by Senior Superintendent Felipe Cazon made the arrest after receiving a tip that Fernandez was staying at the Tivoli Gardens condominium.
“Since our operatives have a copy of the warrant against Fernandez, they decided to secure a search warrant to allow them to check the suspect’s hideout,” Deona told The STAR.
Police officers found a Bushmaster rifle with a scope, a carbine, a 12-gauge shotgun, a .45 caliber pistol, two .38 caliber revolvers, and a hand grenade, he said.
