Lawmaker backs Lim’s mayoral bid

MANILA, Philippines – Independent Manila vice mayoral candidate and fourth district Rep. Trisha Bonoan has reiterated her support for the comeback bid of former mayor Alfredo Lim in the race for the city’s top post.

Bonoan believes only Lim can bring the city back to its feet, particularly in providing genuine services for the poor.

In a speech during a gathering of at least 1,000 members of a private sector group, Bonoan said Lim had delivered projects that brought long-term benefits especially to the poor.

 She said Lim’s projects served as her guide in pushing her own flagship programs such as scholarship, cataract operation and free hospitalization.

Bonoan, who is in her last term in the House of Representatives, has consistently supported Lim and his anti-corruption stance.

The former mayor is the Liberal Party’s mayoral bet in the May elections with Rep. Atong Asilo as his running mate.

Lim vowed to bring back free hospital services and enhance the “womb to tomb” program that he instituted during his term.
