Fire destroys funeral parlor, 3 hearses

MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at a funeral parlor in Sampaloc, Manila before dawn yesterday, destroying P1.5 million worth of property, including three hearses.

The blaze started at the Gloria Memorial Homes’ mezzanine just before 5 a.m. and was put out less than an hour later, the Manila fire department said.
The funeral parlor neither had a body for embalming nor hosted any wake at the time the fire broke out.

No one was hurt in the fire as the funeral parlor’s workers escaped by going through the roof of the building.

Investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire.
