BI nabs Chinese fugitive

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested yesterday a Chinese fugitive wanted in his country for economic sabotage.

Zhang Dongman, 51, was nabbed shortly after he arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Bacolod at around 10:30 a.m., BI spokesman Elaine Tan said.

Tan said the Chinese government has cancelled Zhang’s passport, making him an illegal alien.

The BI issued a summary deportation order against Zhang on July 30. The Chinese fugitive has been staying in the Philippines since 2011.
