Trike driver, left by wife, claims P59-M lotto pot

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two years after his wife left him over his meager earnings, a 29-year-old tricycle driver from Quezon City yesterday claimed the P59 million he won in the 6/45 Mega Lotto’s March 20 draw.

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) acting chairman and general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II handed over the check to the winner at the PCSO office in Mandaluyong City.

Rojas said he later learned that the winner raised his two children alone after his wife left him.

He said the winner did not answer when he was asked if he was willing to reconcile with his wife should she learn about his winnings.

The winner used his children’s birthdates and ages when he placed his bet on the winning combination, 02-03-14-22-29-30, Rojas said.

The winner plans to buy a house and lot, a car and send his children back to school, according to the PCSO official.
