Motorists urged: Don’t give gifts to traffic enforcers

MANILA, Philippines - Motorists should not offer gifts or tokens to traffic enforcers, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.

“Please don’t offer even bottled water to traffic enforcers,” MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said in a radio interview.

He said traffic enforcers have been reminded to refrain from accepting or soliciting gifts, even when they are not on duty.

The anti-graft law prohibits civil servants from accepting, directly or indirectly, a gift during Christmas or other occasions from any person other than a member of their immediate family.
