Rob suspect hurt in shootout

MANILA, Philippines - A suspected robber was wounded after an alleged shootout with a Northern Police District policeman in Manila on Friday night.

Jade Acuna, 20, was brought to Jose Abad Santos Hospital for treatment. His two reported accomplices, meanwhile, escaped.

Acuna and his two companions were allegedly robbing two women along Reina Regente in Binondo at around 10 p.m. when Police Officer 3 John Mark dela Cruz chanced upon them.

Dela Cruz called their attention but one of Dela Cruz’s accomplices allegedly attacked him, prompting the policeman to shoot them, according to a police report.
