Cabbie, road rage suspects settle case

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The two men tagged in the road rage incident along EDSA have reached a settlement with the cabbie, who was the complainant in the case.

Cabbie Glen Remetio met with both Karlvin Ernest Ang and Emerson Tan yesterday afternoon and will no longer pursue the complaints he filed against Ang, said Senior Inspector Virgilio Carodan.

According to Carodan, Remetio has executed an affidavit of desistance to be filed with the prosecutor’s office, where he filed physical injury, malicious mischief and grave threats charges against Ang.

The fiscal was also present during yesterday’s meeting.

Remetio earlier said he was open to a settlement, citing anxiety caused by the incident, a video of which has gone viral online, according to Carodan.

He said a lawyer for Primex Development Corp. met with Remetio on Thursday afternoon to discuss the possibility of a settlement.

After Remetio filed the cases against Ang, a lawyer for Primex named Tan as the one who drove the Mercedes Benz when the incident happened on July 25.

Primex, which holds office in Greenhills, San Juan, was found to be the registered owner of the Benz driven by a gun-wielding man who threatened Remetio at the EDSA-Santolan flyover.
