BOC destroys P300-M fake bags, wallets

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) destroyed yesterday an estimated P300 million worth of counterfeit bags and wallets.

Commissioner Rufino Biazon and BOC-Intelligence Group head Danilo Lim led the destruction of imitation Louis Vuitton, Channel, Gucci, Lacoste, Breitling, Balenciaga, and Hermes bags and wallets, which were seized from a warehouse in Binondo, Manila.

Had the BOC failed to seize these goods, Biazon said these would have ended up in the bazaars and stalls that abound in Metro Manila.

The bags and wallets were shredded in a rendering facility at the Ecosafe Marina One container yard at North Harbor in Tondo, Manila. – Evelyn Macairan, Zinnia dela Peña
