‘Rapists’ gang’ busted

- Jaime Laude -
A group of serial rapists, victimizing students from schools in Quezon City was rounded up by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in a series of operations in Antipolo City.

The arrest of the four suspects came after one of the group’s latest two victims, a petite 18-year-old college student from the Far Eastern University (FEU) mastered enough courage to seek police assistance at Camp Crame.

Now detained at the CIDG detention for forcible abduction and 14 counts of rape following their arrest in Antipolo and in Quezon City, are jeepney driver Ronaldo Dorado, 41, Joel Dorado, 28, jobless; Edgar Rimando, 39, jeepney driver; and Christopher Langones, 26; all residents of 32 Tiwi st., Napocor Village, Quezon City.

The four were presented to the media yesterday by Secretary Jose Lina Jr., of the Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG) and CIDG chief, Director Nestorio Gualberto.

Police are now hunting down three other members of the group after they eluded arrest. Two of them were identified as Jericho and King, surnamed Guerrero, said to be scions of a former official of Napocor.

Gualberto informed Lina the four suspects were positively identified by one of their victims as the same group of seven armed men who abducted and gang-raped them side by side in a grassy lot in Antipolo City.

The suspects’ latest victims are students of FEU and St. Paul’s College. The two, who did not know each other, boarded the suspects’ passenger jeepney, plying the Arayat-Quezon City Circle route in Cubao Friday afternoon.

According to Gualberto, from Cubao, the suspects drove straight to Antipolo with their two victims.

Upon reaching a secluded place in Barangay Mambugan, the sex-starved suspects gang-raped the victims for almost three hours.

Joel Dorado, one of the suspects, claimed that it was the third time his group did something like this but said that it was just his first to join them.

In scouting for their victims, the suspects masqueraded as passengers of a jeepney driven by Dorado, Gualberto said.

"They do not pick up male passengers, only coeds whom they rob before taking them (victims) to Antipolo City to be gang-raped," Gualberto said.
