CEBU, Philippines – A man was found floating dead in the waters off Gapas-Gapas islet in Barangay Day-as in Cordova town last Monday morning.

Police Officer 3 Erwin Hedorio of Cordova Police Station said a certain fisherman, identified as Alexander Pacaldo, found the dead body around 9 a.m. as he was about to catch fish in the same area.

Pacaldo told police about his discovery.

Hedorio did not find any identification cards with the body but based on police description, the man was only wearing an underwear, around 30 to 35 years of age and about 5'2" to 5'4" tall.

He added the man has a medium body build, with a thick facial hair.

Police said the body was not yet identified and that they are still conducting a follow-up investigation.

They added that they cannot yet determine whether the man got drowned or suffered health problems before he was found dead.

The body was sent to Mahal Ko Funeral Homes in Sitio Poso, Barangay Poblacion in Cordova for autopsy.

Last November 13, a woman with stab wounds was also found dead in an abandoned wharf in Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City.

Police Officer 3 Lydo Pinos of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Homicide Section said the woman who was found lying on the rocks did not bear any identification cards.

A fisherman named Rolando Berame of Purok Sambag in the same barangay reported the incident to the police.

Pinos said they cannot determine if the woman was raped for her clothes were still intact but he said maybe she was robbed by unidentified persons before the incident happened. (FREEMAN)
