Alegre’s killer changes hair color?

CEBU, Philippines - Police investigators looking into the case of the slain lawyer in Mandaue City now have a new lead on the possible location of one of the assailants.

Mandaue City Police Office chief, Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr., said an informant told them over the phone of the presence of a “suspiciously looking” man who had his hair dyed in a salon in southern Cebu.

Natu-el said the man dyed his hair the day after lawyer Amelie Ocañada-Alegre was ambushed.

“Based on the (informant’s) account, duna’y tawo nga nangadto didto sa lugar nga nagpa-blonde sa iyang buhok after the (ambush), someone who fit the description sa atoang facial composite,” Natu-el said.

According to the informant, the man disembarked from a Mitsubishi Montero before entering the salon. He said the man reportedly came from a town several towns away from where the salon was located.

The informant added that the man looked like one of the persons identified in the cartographic sketches of the suspects released last August 20.

He also said he got suspicious of the man’s actions as the latter exited through the backdoor of the salon.

Natu-el said they have coordinated with the local police to review the CCTV footage of the establishment across the salon.

“There is a big possibility nga na-video-han sa atubangan or sa atbang nga establishment ang katong parlor. So probably, we can get footage. Right now, the chief of police there is getting the footage from the establishment,” Natu-el said.

Natu-el added that they themselves can probably review the footage within this week. — Jave A. Matugas (FREEMAN)
