CEBU, Philippines - A 36-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by his own cousin while he was having a conversation with his other cousin in Sitio Malingin, Barangay Punta Engaño on Wednesday evening.

Rey Talingting sustained multiple wounds on his body after being pierced by a bladed weapon allegedly owned by Matias Pagobo, 30, according to Senior Police Officer 2 Allan Pantaleon of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section.

Initial investigation revealed that while Talingting was talking with his other cousin Jun-Jun, a jeepney driver, Pagobo suddenly emerged behind him and stabbed the victim several times on his back, right chest and side portion of his body.

After the incident, Pagobo fled from the area, evading the responding police personnel of Mactan Police Station 2.

SPO2 Pantaleon said the victim was immediately brought to Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital and then transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Follow-up investigation will be conducted after the incident and charges of frustrated homicide case will be lodged once the suspect is arrested. (FREEMAN)
