Mandaue cops get merit medals

CEBU, Philippines - Fourteen members of the Mandaue City Police Office were awarded the other day after the arrest of seven suspected drug pushers operating in the city and the confiscation of 121.3 grams of shabu amounting to P1.4 million.

Police Regional Officer-7 chief Superintendent Prudencio Tom Bañas personally handed the Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Merit of Medal) to the 14 members of the Mandaue City Police Office.

Bañas was assisted by Mandaue City police chief Senior Superintendent Petronillo Baldebrin in a simple awarding ceremony at the Mandaue City Police Office headquarters.

The awardees were Police Superintendent Crisaleo Tolentino, Police Chief Inspector Bernouli Abalos, Police Chief Inspector Jimmy Aguisanda, Police Senior Inspector Jimmy Fortes, Police Senior Inspector Miguel Andeza, Police Senior Inspector Romel Luga, Police Inspector Zenaido Sanchez, SPO3 Ramil Villaluz, SPO3 Natalio Mercader, SPO2 Dindo Montesclaros, SPO1 Tirso Plania, PO3 Renato Inot, PO2 Ariel Gingco and PO3 Julius Tradio.

The police team headed by Superintendent Tolentino  raided Barangays Mantuyong, Casili, Guizo and Subangdaku based of the search warrants, resulting the arrests of Roberto Abanid, Nino Castaneda, Marwin Opura Jr., Darwin Cortes, Joseph Escoton, Jackquie Villarta,  Edgardo Castro and Ulyn Ceniza.

Police confiscated from the suspects a total of 121.3 grams of shabu with an estimated market value at P1.4 million, 0.05 grams of crushed marijuana, four firearms of assorted caliber, drug paraphernalia.

Bañas personally congratulated the police awardees urged them to continue in their fight against illegal drugs. (FREEMAN)
