What Joseph Marco looks for in a Star Magic Ball date

MANILA, Philippines — While it is still unknown if “Wildflower” co-stars Maja Salvador and Joseph Marco will go together as dates for the Star Magic Ball on Saturday night, Joseph has revealed the kind of girl he wants to not only bring to the ball, but would also become his girlfriend and eventually, wife.
“Gusto ko kasi ‘yung hardworking na babae and like business-minded, the one who takes care of herself na parang alam n’ya ‘yung ginagawa n’ya,” Marco told Philstar.com in a recent press conference for “Wildflower.”
Does he want to strut in the red carpet with a sexy siren like Maja?
“Physically, hindi naman ‘yun ‘yung pinakahabol ko, pero s’yempre ‘di ba, parang gusto naman natin maganda’t gwapo, presentable,” Joseph said.
“Feeling ko, secondary na lang ‘yun. Ang gusto ko talaga more on family-oriented, gusto ko masipag magtrabaho, gusto ko ‘yung maalaga sa sarili. Kasi ‘pag maalaga sa sarili ang isang tao, that means kaya n’ya rin magmahal. Eh kung ‘di mo kayang mag-alaga ng sarili mo, pa’no ka magmamahal ng isang tao?”
Does Maja fit all the qualities he looks for?
“She’s very confident but in a good way,” Joseph said of Maja. “She’s very humble. Actually, ngayon ko lang na-discover na makulit pala s’ya. Mas makulit pa s’ya kay Alex (Gonzaga) eh.”
As with Alex, he also planned to court Maja, until he heard that another guy is also interested with the actress.
Thus, for now, Joseph is content with being single and enjoying Maja’s company.
Since he and Maja share sweet and intimate moments in the show, he still makes sure to keep himself sexy and fit.
“I’m fit but gusto ko hindi masyadong payat this time. Kasi sa ‘Pasion (de Amor)’ ang payat ko masyado…I try to workout as much as I can lalo na ‘pag wala akong work. Saka mostly diet. Control your diet as much as you can kahit na ang sarap sarap kumain. Control lang talaga. It’s a self-discipline.”
To gain extra bulk for “Wildflower,” he maintains a 155-pound weight and avoids salty and sweet food.
“Kasi ‘yung tastebuds mo mag-iiba s’ya lalo na ‘pag nasanay ka na sa diet food. The more na malasa s’ya, mas nakakataba…Siguro, mga subtle lang na lasa ang mga kinakain ko.”
He also works out for 30 minutes every other day or plays basketball.
Though he has proven that he can do a horror movie like “Pwera Usog,” he does not mind being typecast as a sexy actor.
“Actually, natanggap ko na s’ya. For me, I’m just thankful na nabibigyan ako ng job. At hindi naman porket sexy, wala nang lalim ‘yung binibigay nila. Siguro ‘yun lang ‘yung pinaka-front, pero ang ganda ng mga roles na binibigay nila… Every project naman na ginagawa ko may mga pagkakaiba naman talaga sila. Ang pinaka-highlight ng ‘Wildflower’ is revenge and love. ‘Yun ‘yung magiging center ng story, especially dun sa characters nina Ivy and Diego.”
He also stressed that while he shows his abs in “Wildflower,” his character, Diego, has more to offer.
“Si Diego, makatao s’ya, not like his family na all about money kahit na may matapakan…Hindi naman dahil sa sexy show s’ya wala ka nang mapupulot. Marami kang mapupulot especially sa pag-appreciate sa mga taong mahal mo.”
Being sexy might not guarantee a love life for Joseph anytime soon, but in showbiz, it entails more jobs.
“Hindi naman nawawala ‘yung sexy — I think it’s in demand and so, the more na ‘di ako mawawalan ng project!”
