From events for expecting parents to arts and crafts activities, to workshops for yayas and great sales, here’s a line-up of activities for different members of the family this coming August:

1. The Breastfeeding Club’s Annual Baby Shower

When: August 1, 2015 (Saturday) / 10am-12nn

Where: The Parenting Emporium, No. 29, 1st Street, New Manila, Quezon City

What to expect: Games, prizes, talks about breastfeeding, babywearing, and cloth diapering courtesy of The Breastfeeding Club

Other details: Membership fees for The Breastfeeding Club are discounted on that day (P600 instead of P800). Register via 0917-8110821.

2. Pursuit Manila’s Arts and Crafts Fair

When: August 1, 2015 (Saturday) / 10am-5pm

Where: 4th floor, Knightbridge Residence (behind Century Mall), Makati City

What to expect: Pursuit Manila worship and gathering, an inspirational talk, arts and crafts for moms and kids, finger and arm knitting demo, calligraphy and lettering demo, live music

Other details: Whole day passes cost P100 for adults and P50 for kids (inclusive of supplies for arts and crafts sessions, and access to art demos and live music)

3. Sacred Pregnancy and Conscious Birth Retreat

When: August 1, 2015 (Saturday) / 1pm-6.30pm

Where: The Parenting Emporium, No. 29, 1st Street, New Manila, Quezon City

What to expect: Learn how to create your own sacred space, gentle birthing planning and essentials, basics of hypnobirthing, optimal fetal positioning techniques, pre-natal yoga, plus participate in a mother blessing ceremony

Other details: Learning fee is P4000. Those who are part of The Parenting Emporium (TPE) Loyalty Program are entitled to a P500 discount.

4. Books for Less Warehouse Sale

When: August 1-31, 2015 (Except Mondays) / 9am-6pm

Where: #643 Mercedes Avenue, Brgy. San Miguel, Pasig City (in front of La Consolacion College)

What to expect: Get books at a bargain — for only P20.00 each! It may not be advisable to bring children though, as the sale will be held in a warehouse, which can be very dusty.

5. Paper Cutting 101 Workshop

When: August 1, 2015 (Saturday) / 10am-1.30pm

Where: 100 Miles Café, the Fort Strip, BGC (On the 2nd floor of the building of Whistlestop)

What to expect: Learn different ways of creating intricate paper cut masterpieces with Joanna Dela Pena of Artsy Cutsy. Get freebies, too, from workshop sponsors.

6. Beauty and the Beast Musical by Kids ACTS Philippines

When: August 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9, 2015 / Fridays and Saturdays at 10am, 2pm, 6pm / Sundays at 10am, 2pm

Where: St. Cecilia’s Hall, St. Scholastica’s College, Leon Guinto corner Vito Cruz Sts., Malate, Manila

What to expect: Kids Acts Philippines presents their own adaptation of the beloved fairytale classic “Beauty and the Beast.”

7. Meals for Breastfeeding Moms Workshop with MCA’s Chef Jacqueline Alleje

When: August 5, 2015 (Wednesday) / 1pm-4pm

Where: The Parenting Emporium, No. 29, 1st Street, New Manila, Quezon City

What to expect: Workshop participants will learn about the best food for breastfeeding moms, and their babies (and their milk supply); when it is safe to lose weight and how to control it; how to prepare nutritious and delicious meals not just for mom and baby, but for the entire family.

Chef Jacqueline Alleje is a professional and organic advocate with over 20 years of experience, and is known for her Green Global Gourmet Cuisine, weight loss and weight management diets. She continually studies and innovates in order to develop and teach specialty diets for expecting parents and breastfeeding mothers, as well as clinical diets for those with diabetes and heart concerns.

8. Talino Talks: Digital Marketing Workshop

When: August 7, 2015 (Friday) / 6pm-9pm

Where: Freelancer.com Office, 30th floor, Ecotower, 32nd Street corner 9th Avenue, Fort Bonifacio

What to expect: The Digital Marketing Workshop is a short intensive class that will introduce you to the fundamentals of digital marketing. The course aims to develop your skills to be able to plan, implement and measure effective campaigns. It will cover different digital platforms and tools to help you craft sound recommendations for your company or your client’s business.

9. KidZania Manila Official Opening

When: August 7, 2015 (Friday)

Where: KidZania Manila, Park Triangle, North 11th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

What to expect: KidZania Manila is the newest kid-friendly educational and fun attraction in town. Expect lots of fun, hands-on learning activities for the kids as it officially opens to the public on August 7. Tickets can be bought online starting August 3. 10. Hands-on Parents While Earning (H.O.P.E.) Summit

What to expect: The whole-day summit on hands-on parenting and working smart in the new millennium seeks to inspire and teach parents how to marry hands-on parenting with earning for the family. It will feature different hands-on parents who are also successfully earning in their respective fields.
